Yesterday (May 17) during a Cannes Film Festival press conference, chief executive officer of DreamWorks Animation Jeffrey Katzenberg revealed that the How To Train Your Dragon franchise might see a fourth installment -- if both he and director Dean DeBlois can agree on it. The conference, which also included the film’s stars Cate Blanchett and America Ferrera, was held to promote the debut of How To Train Your Dragon 2. It was there, to a room full of press and excited fans waiting outside, that Katzenberg revealed his desire to eke out another installment. “I say he can’t get it done in 95 minutes,” Katzenberg shared. “He always saw this as a trilogy. I think it’s going take two movies to do it.” DeBlois hasn’t been completely sold on whether the last film in the hit series How To Train Your Dragon could be completed in a single go, but it seems to be the only -- and small -- difference of opinion between both creatives at this point. “The only thing that we actually have disagreed about is whether he can succeed in telling as much of a story as he has in the third of the trilogy,” Katzenberg said. The How To Train Your Dragon franchise is based on an 11-book-long young adult series written by Cressida Cowell. The popularity of the first film in theaters helped bring in almost $500 million for the DreamWorks studio back in 2010. How To Train Your Dragon 2 follows after the first film, focusing on the story of Viking Hiccup and his dragon friend Toothless. The film is set to open in theaters June 13.
