Some times going after something you love takes some time, and a boat load of patience. Just ask Dwayne Johnson. This summer will be a big one for Dwayne Johnson because his 'labour of love' Hercules is FINALLY hitting the big screen in July. Johnson said the journey to create this film started ten years ago when he first read Steve Moore's graphic novel and now it's a film that Johnson calls "Gladiator and 300," with its own personality. Of the whole idea behind the movie Dwayne said, "The idea was to take the spirit of the graphic novel, which we liked, and then create a script and a story based on that that still gave a very unique twist on the story of Hercules." [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JZhGYrgCPg[/embed] Everyone may be familiar with other versions of Hercules, be it from written stories, Disney or even Kevin Sorbo, but Johnson's version of the demigod is full of 'trauma and anguish.' Hercules is introduced in the film at a point in his life when "he doesn't care about his faith, and he doesn't care about who he is." Dwayne Johnson's Hercules is also sporting something other versions of the famous demigod have not, a full beard. And usually, this wouldn't be of note but this one was a complete secret (until today) and made completely out of yak hair. That's right, the yak hair was applied to Dwayne's face, one inch strip at a time, over 2-3 hours a day before filming could start. And to keep it a secret, Johnson and director Brett Ratner (X-Men: The Last Stand) had the unpleasant task of firing around 50 members of the crew who attempted to snap pictures of the star. Check out Hercules when it hits theatres on July 25th, 2014. So what do you think PopWrappers, will you be seeing Hercules this summer?
