A few days ago, the very first patient diagnosed with Ebola in the United States passed away. However, the deadly disease stayed in the country, as the nurse who treated him has now been tested positive to the virus.
The story first came to light on Sunday morning. According to the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, the nurse was wearing protective gear at all times–gloves, a mask, and a gown–while treating Thomas E. Duncan, given that she had extensive contact with him. However, she ended up being the first patient with a transmission of Ebola inside the United States and the second patient to be diagnosed with the disease in the country.
The woman is currently stable, while in isolation. Reportedly, her infection happened due to a security breach in the protocol. The nurse herself claims she’s doing fine, while the doctors being optimisting about her recovery.
