The Theory of Everything breakout star Eddie Redmayne appears to be the front-runner for JK Rowling’s Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The spin-off, the first installment of a trilogy, will take place 70 years before Harry Potter’s existence and will focus on magizoologist, Newt Scamander. Many stars have been linked to the titular role by fans and media including Matt Smith (Doctor Who), Nicolas Hoult (X-Men series) and Luke Newberry (In the Flesh).

Despite all the rumors and speculation, Warner Brothers has released no statement confirming or denying Redmayne’s involvement in the highly anticipated film. All the actors rumored for the role are incredibly talented and I wouldn’t mind seeing any of them take the role (though I would love to see Matt Smith grace the big screen in something other than the new Terminator films, is that too much to ask?).

Who do you think should be cast as Newt Scamander? Let us know in the comments below!

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set to hit theaters on November 18, 2016
