Eleanor Buckland Teases Her Debut Album With “October”

“I still have so much compassion for that young woman…”

After five years in the folk band Lula Wiles, Eleanor Buckland is breaking out on her own and making her own unique mark on the music world with her blend of indie rock-pop – and some horns thrown in for good measure. She’ll release her debut solo album You Don’t Have To Know on October 29th, but before that, she’s teasing the upcoming collection by sharing her new single “October”, which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere.

Eleanor wrote the song when she was just 19 and it’s a reflection of that time – a particularly vulnerable time – in her life, as she explains: “I still have so much compassion for that young woman. Trying to figure out how to love and how to navigate heartbreak in those formative years. If I could talk to her today, I would still tell her to escape up to Maine to re-center and to heal her heart.”

Her album is a musical and lyrical diary of sorts, taking the listener on a journey as she chronicles her personal growth, which is captured nowhere better than on her new single. “As I wrote the songs that make up You Don’t Have To Know, I didn’t know what they would become and I didn’t realize I was creating my debut record,” she says. “The process was total freedom; I allowed myself to be creative and exploratory. Having been in bands for my entire musical life, I was discovering my singular voice as an artist in a way I never had before and it was thrilling.”
