Elizabeth Lauten works as an assistant for the Republicans in congress - well at least she used to until yesterday. The lady was the one who took to her Facebook profile to throw some shade at Barack Obama's daughters and she seems to have resigned now.
More specifically, Lauten serves as the communications director for Tennessee Rep. Steven Fincher. The lady watched the White House's Thanksgiving event and shortly after the President's statements, she shared a statement on her Facebook profile regarding his daughters' outfits and stylings. According to her status update that went viral, Malia and Sasha Obama should have shown class and "dress like [they] deserve respect, not a spot at a bar".
It wasn't long until she deleted the post and shared a different one, as an apology. Despite doing some damage control and stating she had realised her words were "hurtful", she couldn't put an end to the backlash. With #FireElizabethLauten becoming a trending topic, she reportedly played her cards smart and claimed to be resigning yesterday. Lauten has even gone and informed the media that her resignation is currently in the works and should be effective soon.
