Ellie Goulding’s new song “Beating Heart” featured on the soundtrack to the film Divergent has been released online.
Neil Burger, director of the film, said that the new track was a perfect fit for the film. Burger had this to say about the track and more of Goulding’s music which is also featured on the soundtrack when he spoke with Entertainment Weekly: “In the last scene of the movie, Tris has just experienced multiple tragedies, even as she triumphs (for the moment) over her enemies. Ellie wrote ‘Beating Heart’ and we knew it’d be perfect for the end of the movie. Her lyrics almost merge with Tris’ voice-over and her music lets the movie soar above the tragedy. The sadness is still there but so is the transcendence. It’s a fantastic song.”Goulding has provided the soundtrack with some of her previously released music, and her voice will be featured in the film along with the score for the film. Goulding had this to say about her work on the soundtrack during an interview last month: “I basically got to go into the studio, and just be put in front of the microphone for a few hours and sing whatever I wanted to sing. Not even words, noises and sounds, too. I listened to a lot of Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard.” The soundtrack for Divergent comes out on March 11th, which will also feature music from Zedd, Snow Patrol, and Skrillex. You can listen to Goulding's song here. Divergent hits theaters on March 21st.
