Emma Watson almost quit acting! Can you believe that? Who would’ve played free-spirited Sam in Perks of Being a Wallflower or fame hungry thief Nicki in the upcoming film The Bling Ring?
After 10 years of playing Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, Watson wanted to take a break from the acting scene to figure out where she truly wanted to be. In an interview Watson told Total Film magazine, “I basically took two years out and stepped as far away from it as I could…I took time to really try and figure out who I was and what I wanted to do. I even considered not being an actress.”
During her personal hiatus, she decided to go to college and enrolled at Brown University in 2009 only taking a little time off to promote the final Harry Potter film in 2011. But also in the same year she postponed her senior-year studies. She began filming Perks of Being a Wallflower in the summer of 2011 and it became a hit movie of 2012.
However, she didn’t completely leave her studies behind because she is set to return to Brown this fall to finish what she started!
You can see Emma in her latest film The Bling Ring when it hits theaters on June 14.
