What happens when one of the world’s most famous authors is interviewed by the actress who portrayed one of her beloved characters? Earth shattering revelations, that’s what! In an interview lead by Emma Watson, who played Rowling’s adored Hermoine Granger, Rowling revealed that she regretted Hermoine and Ron’s relationship in the later books. As if that wasn’t enough, Rowling continued to blow our minds by admittinging that she wished she would have had Hermoine and HARRY fall in love, and eventually wed!!!! WHHAAATTT?! “I wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfillment,” she explained. “That’s how it was conceived, really. For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron.” But did she stop there? No she certainly did not! “I know, I’m sorry. I can hear the rage and fury it might cause some fans, but if I’m absolutely honest, distance has given me perspective on that. It was a choice I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of credibility. Am I breaking people’s hearts by saying this? I hope not.” Watson, who clearly has an utterly unique perspective on the subject, agreed with Rowling, stating that, “I think there are fans out there who know that too and who wonder whether Ron would have really been able to make her happy.” Rowling then went on to predict that Ron and Hermoine would have inevitably sought out “relationship counseling.” As we all know, or at least we should, Ron and Hermoine DID get married, and ended up having two children together, Hugo and Rose. In the final scenes of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, there is no indication that Ron and Hermoine are anything but happily married and raising their children. Apparently, we can just go ahead and burst that bubble right now. What do you think readers? Would the story of the bespectacled boy have been more appealing if he had fallen in love with Hermoine? If you’d like to catch the full interview, keep an eye on The Sunday Times’ Twitteror look for February's Wonderland Magazine. The above is just a short snippet of what is to come! Watson conducted this interview for her guest-editing spot for Wonderland Magazine. It is sure to be classy and elegant, just like Emma herself! Keep Up With PopWrapped On The Web!
