is finally back in our lives - yasss! "Death Will Have His Day" is one of the most intense episodes yet...
Rhonda doesn't remember how she fell down the stairs (although we ALL know), but she manages to set off the alarm again so the police arrive. In some of the most heartbreaking, well-acted scenes of the series, Rhonda loses the baby and the rest of the family gathers at the hospital comforting Andre.
Annika then has the nerve to visit Rhonda and tell her "maybe everything happens for a reason." Someone call the men in white jackets for this woman, please.
Cookie is beyond pissed at Hakeem for his betrayal--mama beats his behind like the infamous broomstick scene from season one all over again.
Camilla still has a hold over him; even when Cookie promises him the role of CEO, he won't help his own mother get back into Empire. Then, he decides to get drunk and take it out on Laura who, thankfully, has enough fire in her to fight back and walk out on him. He is an idiot.
Jamal, Andre, and Cookie team up and give Hakeem an ultimatum--either he lets Cookie back into Empire, or they release Jamal's new album under Lyon Dynasty and cause a press nightmare for Hakeem. He claims he betrayed Lucious so they can all be a family again; he agrees to partner with Lyon Dynasty and make Cookie head of A&R for Empire. Camilla is less than pleased.
The episode ends with so much nonsense that I can't actually tolerate it.
1. Hakeem tells Laura that he only broke up with her to secure his Empire throne, but he actually loves her. So, she sleeps with him for the first time. SIGH.
2. Lucious takes Hakeem to the spot where he killed Bunkie, confesses, and hands him a gun. He tells him that if he doesn't kill Lucious, next time he sees Hakeem, he's going to try and kill him. His. Own. Son.
