Tonari no Seki-kun has a total of 21 episodes that are each only 8 minutes long. Sentai Filmworks describes the storyline of Tonari no Seki-kun as:
“During class, a schoolboy named Seki-kun is always creating things to entertain himself. All he cares for is creating things with an artist’s level of perfectionism and a craftsman’s attention to detail. Real dominos, shogi with original rules, a flip book with sounds… Even Yokoi-san, who sits next to Seki-kun, always gets sucked into watching his games!”
The complete series will be available for purchase on both Blu-ray and DVD on April 12. The Blu-ray will retail for $49.98, whereas, for the DVD, it will be $39.98.
The short yet hilarious series is based on Takuma Morishige’s manga of the same name. Each chapter represents a class session where Seki conjures up a number of ways to pass time by while his desk-mate Yokoi watches on in frustration — soon enough, Yokoi begins to participate in Seki’s shenanigans.
The manga distribution company Vertical has licensed and released the manga series under the name My Neighbor Seki. Volume 7 was released March 15 and the 8th volume will be available on October 4.
Tonari no Seki-kun: The Master of Killing Time is a comedy well-worth checking out and is available for pre-order on Sentai Filmworks’ website, Amazon, and RightStuf.
