Hide yo' wives and hide yo' kids cause they stalking everybody on the new CBS crime drama Stalker. The show stars Maggie Q (Nikita) as Lt. Beth Davis and Dylan McDermott (Hostages) Det. Jack Larsen. Last night's premiere "Pilot," centered around Beth and Jack who are trying to catch a stalker that uses fire to kill his victims. The episode begins with a woman, named Kate, getting a call from a man saying that he sees that she's made it home. She tells him to leave her alone and hangs up the phone. As she's walking into the her home she sees a man wearing a hoodie and a mask standing in her doorway.  She runs away, but he catches up to her and pours gasoline on her body and tries to set her on fire.  Kate is able to fight him off long enough for her to run back into her car, but she dropped the keys and they were picked up by the stalker.  He douses the car in gasoline and she pulls the brake off  to send the car sliding away from him. He lights the trail of gas and it follows her down the street. The car strikes a tree and she seems to be okay for a moment but then the car explodes in a ball of fire. Lt. Beth Davis is in a lecture hall discussing stalking statistics. The scene is switching off between her in a classroom and Detective Jack Larsen taking pictures of a woman and her child. Wait, hold up. So a cop who catches stalkers is a stalker?

When Beth gets back to the station she requests information on two students from Alcott University, Eric and Perry.  She meets Jack and asks why he wants to go from homicide to stalkers.  She informs him that a background in mental illness is required and after a few bad jokes says that he knows it's a specific skill set. It's a very awkward meeting that to Jack feels like an interview. Luckily, they get interrupted when they get the Kate case. Apparently, Kate had reported crimes against her, but they were never taken on by the stalking unit.

When Beth and Jack get to Kate's apartment Beth assesses that the apartment hadn't been lived in long and that Kate was in hiding. Jack notices the clear shower curtain and the bed low to the ground and the bed facing the door so she could see shadows. He says she had trouble sleeping but wouldn’t take prescription meds because she has a full bottle in the bathroom.

They both go to visit Kate's neighbor Troy. They met in spin class and he insists that they are just friends. He tells them that her last relationship was about a year ago, but she broke it off when she found out that he was married. When Beth and Jack go to see Larry he confesses that he was at home with his wife, all night. He says the last time he saw her was a year ago when she thought he was leaving the notes. He says he made a mistake getting involved with her but says he’s just a miserable middle aged man, not a stalker. He confesses that his wife doesn’t know about the affair and when they check with her she confirms his alibi.

As they're leaving, Jack apologizes to Beth for staring at her breasts – he thinks that’s why she is off put by him. He says he’s good looking, personable and smart so that’s all he can think of. When she asks why he did it he says that her blouse and nail polish indicate that she would want to be noticed so he did.

Or she could be dressing for herself and not some man, but I'm getting off topic.

Beth goes to see Perry in the hospital and tells him that Eric told them that he filmed the video. He says that when he and Eric were roommates in freshman year Eric had some crazy mood swings. They ask why he hadn’t pressed charges because he’s obviously been beaten and he says everyone deserves a second chance. They go to see Eric and he says Perry was the one recording him having sex with his GF, not the other way around. Eric tells them that Perry started to act weird around him and that makes Beth think that Perry may be fixated on Eric. The dean tells Beth that she can't let her go deeper into the case because Perry's parents are important alumni.

When Beth goes home she begins to get ready for bed she checks her windows and pulls her drapes, locks her doors and arms her security system, turns off her lights and lies down in bed and watches the light under the door just like Jack said Kate would likely do to wait to see a shadow showing that she’s not alone.

So a cop that catches stalkers is also being stalked?

The same man who burned Kate was waiting for a woman named Lori in the parking deck.  As soon as the elevator doors open he pours gasoline on her.  She is able to push him out and get the elevator to take her to the roof where she sees two people and ask for help. When talking to Beth and Jack, Lori tells them that she knew Kate from spin class and took over her old lease. She admits that she also knows Troy. They put a guard on Lori, until they catch who is stalking her, and decide to focus on the gym.  When Jack gets to the gym he meets the spin instructor Kurt. He asks him about Larry and Kurt says that Larry doesn’t take the class any more. He says Troy knows Larry and points him out in the gym. Jack goes to talk to Troy and tells him that Lori was attacked and asks where he was. Troy says he was home alone, but is not able to prove it. Next, Jack heads to Lori’s place where he finds Beth there leafing through the mail. He tells her that he ran into Troy at the gym and says he knew them both. Beth reads him some of the notes the stalker sent and it makes Jack wonder why she didn’t report him and Beth says she was a strong woman and may have just accepted it as part of daily life.

While looking through the apartment, Jack sees something and lifts a ceiling panel and goes up into the rafters. He finds a crawl space that he hauls himself up into. Beth asks what he found and he says probably prints, DNA and lots of sticky stuff. He crawls further over and looks down and says it’s a secret viewing room because it’s right above the bed. They match the prints found to Larry, Kate’s one-time lover.

Back at the dorms, Eric comes into his room and turns the light on where he finds Perry is waiting on him in the dark. He says the RA let him in and Perry says he has a peace offering for him. Eric asks him to leave and Perry says after what he did to him, he can listen. Perry tells Eric that he had to have stitches, but won’t press charges and offers Eric a beer. Eric tells Perry that they just need to leave each other alone. Eric drinks the beer and Perry laughs and says payback makes him sound psychotic. He says if he really wanted revenge he would have poisoned his beer. When Perry leaves Eric locks the door and throws the beer bottle against the wall.

During questioning, Larry says he didn’t kill Kate and says his prints were in the ceiling because he helped Kate move some boxes up there. Beth asks Larry about the footage on his laptop and his lawyer says he’ll get them thrown out.

Eric goes to see Beth at the station and he tells her that Perry is insane. Eric says campus police won’t do anything because of who Perry’s family is. Beth says it’s hard to prove since he attacked Perry and Perry has no record. Eric tells her that his GF left school and his grades have plummeted because of what Perry is doing. She says she knows he’s scared and he says he’s not scared, he’s mad because no one will help him. Eric tells her he doesn’t want to live like this and she tells him she has been through this and says it will end and she’ll help him.

When Janice watches the video footage, from Larry's computer, she sees that Larry was stalking both women. They notice that someone was in the room and Larry wasn’t alone in the girl’s apartment.  When Jack brings in Larry’s wife to interview he asks if she knew about the affair and she says of course she knew. She says he started going to the gym when he had a midlife crisis. She says she found cocaine on him and he told her it belonged to his new friend. He asks if it was Troy and she says no, but when he says Kurt Wild, she says that’s him.

Ben says Kurt's real name is Buford Posey and the guy has a record back to when he was 12. Larry confesses to the cops that Kurt killed Kate and says Kurt taught him how to flirt with Kate, hit on her and have sex with her. He says after she dumped him, Kurt suggested a new game with two new picks. They put put an APB on Kurt and Beth is told that Lori is safe with police guards at a friend’s house.

Back at Lori's place, she is being protected with guards and wants to change in her bedroom. While changing, her rug rolls back and we see a guy coming out from under her floor where there was some sort of trap door.

Well that's creepy and I will be checking my floors before I go to bed.

Kurt takes Lori back to the gym and she begins begging for Kurt not to hurt her.  He asks her if she remembers what she said when he asked her out. He says she told him she was seeing someone but he knows she was lying because he knows everything about her. He tells her the game is over and douses both of them in gasoline.  By this time Beth, Jack, and backup have arrived. When Kurt goes to light the match Jack shoots him.

Outside Jack asks why she wears sexy things if she doesn’t want men to notice. Her response was that she wears them for herself. Then she tells him she knows about New York and the captain’s wife, which was actually the Deputy Chief's wife. She admits that knowing his history may have clouded her judgment and he asks how she came to head the unit. She tries to use the plot of Fatal Attraction, but Jack quickly catches on. She says to be patient and tells him she’s not going to put her history out there in the first five minutes. She says that would be creepy. She wishes him good night and leaves.

Perry is leaving a restaurant and turns around to see Beth following him. She knocks him down in the parking lot and slaps him around and tells him to leave Eric alone. He says he’ll report her and she says for what – stalking a stalker. She tells him she isn’t under his family’s thumb and will come after him.

The woman who Jack has been following, Amanda, approaches Jack and asks if he thought she wouldn’t find him. She asks why he’s there and he says new job. She tells him to stay away from her and her son and says she moved there to get away from him. He says it’s his son too but she says he can’t show up and ruin her life again.

Beth goes through her bedtime ritual with her drapes and alarm system. However, this time she leaves a gap in her drapes and we see Perry standing outside her place glaring at her.

I enjoyed Stalker and thought the episode was great.  It started off intense and didn't stop and it made your heartbeat a little faster and I admit that I was a little paranoid when I saw that trap door, in Lori's bedroom floor.  All in all, Stalker is definitely on my list of must-see tv.
