Hailing from Lawrence, Kansas electro-funk aficionados The Floozies are revolutionizing electronic dance music with their innovative productions. Comprised of brothers Matt Hill (producer and guitarist) and Mark Hill (drummer), the twosome have developed their own unique musical soundscape by combining tightly crafted electronic productions with the abounding energy and attitude of funk music.
The pair creates music that will make you want to get up and dance, and they have managed to craft a sound that allows them to be both forward thinking and respectful to the music of the past. Quite the accomplishment!
Last year The Floozies teamed up with George Brown of Kool & The Gang on their funk infused "She Ain't Yo Girlfriend," and now they have plans to ring in the new year with a trio of EPs.
The first of the collection has been titled Granola Jones and will explore the theme of funky jams. Based on the EP's lead single "No Part Of That," we'd say that The Floozies have definitely got a funky jam on their hands.
The track sees the duo team up with prolific saxophonist Karl Denson. The legendary musician has toured with Lenny Kravitz in 2008 and comprised one half of the brass section for the Rolling Stones. He puts his unique spin on the track, shredding some sax on the bridge.
"No Part Of That" is a "funky jam" from the first listen. The track explodes from your speakers, complete with a strong baseline and a danceable beat. Some distorted vocals add a sense of atmosphere before dropping out to make room for that sexy production to grow and undulate across the soundscape.
We at PopWrapped are proud to premiere The Floozies and Karl Denson's newest hit.
