Jonathan Frahm Staff Writer @JNoodles_Hobbit fans have much to be excited about today! Not only do they have the impending theatrical release of Battle of the Five Armies on December 17, they also have an extended version of The Desolation of Smaug being released beforehand! The new, extended set will come in two different iterations- one with and one without Blu-Ray 3D -and is set for a November 4 release. It'll be the perfect Black Friday purchase for fans of the series or those who have a few particular Tolkien diehards in their lives and is said to feature 25 minutes of additional footage. With the added footage, the film will now clock in at 186 minutes. Usually when you get deleted scenes, they aren't as extensive as this, so it's a definite treat for the biggest fans of the series. When you consider the 9 HOURS of behind the scenes footage, too, it's a lucrative deal even for those who had purchased the regular edition a couple of months earlier! Peter Jackson is a master of extended editions and the treatment that The Desolation of Smaug is getting is perfectly exemplar of that. Will you be picking up the extended edition of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug once it hits store shelves on November 7? Keep Up With PopWrapped On The Web!
