Fall Out Boy announced today that their next album will be released on January 20, 2015 on DCD2/Island Records. Titled American Beauty/American Psycho, this will be the band’s sixth studio album. The title track was released earlier today on BBC Radio 1 (via Alternative Press) and will be available online on December 8. Pre-order packages for the album, both digital and physical, will be made available on December 15. The band's previous album, Save Rock and Roll, was certified platinum. FOB also released a song titled "Immortals" for the soundtrack to Disney's Big Hero 6 movie, and they've had another hit on their hands with the recent single "Centuries". The band first made the announcement on their blog, then posted a series of tweets. The first tweet hinted at the announcement, saying, "we have infiltrated you. now we are inside you like a disease." It was followed by a second tweet which stated, “this is a modern love story- coming together and unravelling all at once....” Each tweet contains a link to a post on the band's official site, in which they write:
the moment where a shadow lets you know where the sun was streaming in. the odd place where light and dark meet. there is a threshold. we all can feel it- it is something palpable… the idea that no matter how much an animal is domesticated- there is still something wild in it. declawed but we take/make the best monsters. we semi-civilize them. we put bears in suits on tricycles. we keep wolves warm from the winter in hen houses. then we wonder why they maul the hearts of what we hold the most dear. but make no mistake you brought them into your house and thought they could become a pet.
Within hours of the announcement, the hashtag #FallOutBoyABAP was trending on Twitter.
