The news of the three-year-old British Madeline McCann, who vanished from the family’s hotel room in Portugal, shocked the world and continues to be a mystery that has yet to be solved. The ongoing investigation has seen many twists and turns; the latest being a string of death threats directed at the McCann family.
Confirmed by London’s Metropolitan Police according to NBC News
, the family of Madeleine McCann are victims of vicious Facebook posts and tweets threatening violence against them. Otherwise referred to internet trolling, the posts vary from “Those 2 should burn in hell,” to more horrific messages such as “I want to see them smashed up the back of a bus or trampled by horses”.
According to The Independent,
an 80 page dossier was handed over to officers in hopes that an investigation will take place. “We can confirm we received a letter and documentation on 9 September which was passed to officers from Operation Grange. They are assessing its contents and consulting with the CPS and the McCann family.”
The dossiers compiled by campaigners are adamant that these threats are not to be taken lightly. One anonymous campaigner told the broadcaster: “We’re very worried that it’s only going to take somebody to act out some of these discussions, some of the threats that have been made, and we couldn’t live with ourselves if that happened and we had done nothing.”
These unfortunate happenings are disappointing as these same people who have caused such a stir because they feel so “strongly” about this case are an unnecessary addition to this case which are adding nothing to solving the Madelein McCann disappearance.
