was a huge television hit in 2014, and went on to be nominated for and win several awards. The show’s quirky nature and suspenseful storytelling made it one of the most acclaimed and popular shows of the year, so it is unsurprising that the second season of the show would be highly anticipated. The second season won’t premiere until September, but there is some very exciting news coming out now – the cast has just been announced
, and it is just as star-studded and inspired as the first season’s all-star cast.
Previously, Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons were cast as Peggy and Ed Blomquist, a young suburban couple in Luverne, Minnesota. Joining them now are television icon Ted Danson, who will be taking a break from CSI
to play Hank Larsson, the town’s sheriff. Emmy-winner Jean Smart will play the maniacal matriarch to a local crime family, Floyd Gerhardt. But the most exciting news is that the only returning character from Season One is Lou Solverson, who was played by Keith Carradine. In season 2 he will be played in his younger incarnation by Patrick Wilson.
There will of course be tons of guest stars, including Parks and Recreation
‘s Nick Offerman, multiple Emmy-winner Brad Garrett, Kieran Culkin (star of Igby Goes Down
and brother of Macauley), character actor Bokeem Woodbine, Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice
) and Angus Sampson. The roles of a young Molly Solverson, and her mother Betsy, are still to be cast.
Season 2 will premiere in the Fall of 2015 – and we can’t wait.
