Fifty Shades of Grey Doesn’t Scare Jamie Dornan

Chelsea Workman-Jernigan Staff Writer

Despite being thrown into the role of Christian Grey after Charlie Hunnam dropped out, Jamie Dornan isn’t so afraid of approaching the role in the highly-anticipated movie. "I certainly don't fear it.” Dornan spoke about his initial audition, saying he only tested on tape and did not meet with the crew face-to-face. When Dornan was able to get another chance to audition, he was a bit hesitant because of the last audition. "You know, one door closes, another opens. When... [Hunnam] dropped out, I didn't instantly think, 'Oh here we go, maybe I should cancel that holiday', but I did feel that maybe we'd revisit the idea of me." Dornan was soon flown out to L.A., doing a screen-test alongside Dakota Johnson. The two of them re-enacted two key scenes from the book: the first interview scene, and a very climactic scene towards the end of the novel. He said about the two scenes, "There's quite a lot going on in both scenes. The interview scene is sort of a condensed version of the journey that the two of them go on. There are so many layers in it. It's a beast." Although the books are hugely successful and people have been closely following the casting of the films, Dornan explains the sudden media attention isn’t what it seems like. "It's happening, but not in an unmanageable way at the moment. I've been around it before and it's ugly, but I'm glad I'm 31 and not 21, and married. I feel very settled. I'm not running in and out of clubs at 5am anymore." Even though Dornan sees himself to be someone in fair shape, he’s decided he wants to do a bit of training prior to becoming naked on the big screen. "I've never felt that Christian needs to be some kind of monster, but I think it's very clear how he conditions himself and looks after himself. "I take decent enough care of myself anyway, so obviously I'm gonna up it slightly with training, but we don't have any intention to really bulk up. I don't think it's appropriate." Dornan has also recently explained how he’s not afraid of doing any of the X-rated material that are described in the book. “I’m a fairly worldly guy, I grew up in a very liberal place. I’m not saying we had a playroom, but I’m not perturbed or shocked by [the sex in the book]. It’s essential to tell the story. I can’t believe films that don’t invoke the sexual side of it. So it works for me.” Despite the film’s initial release date being towards the end of 2014, Fifty Shades of Grey will now hit theaters Valentine’s Day 2015. http://www.Twitter.com/PopWrapped https://pop-wrapped.tumblr.com http://www.SoundCloud.com/PopWrapped http://www.Facebook.com/PopWrapped http://www.Instagram.com/PopWrapped http://www.Pinterest.com/PopWrapped http://www.YouTube.com/PopWrapped https://pop-wrapped.wordpress.com http://www.PopWrapped.com
