We told you it would be starting soon, but now we have an official date. Yes, filming of season 4 of HBO’s unprecedented smash hit Game of Thrones will begin next month!

The show’s wardrobe supervisor, (which I bet is a totally awesome job) Donna Hughes, confirmed that “principal photography starts in July.”
As was confirmed just before the premiere of this season, season 4 will contain the latter half of George R. R. Martin’s “A Storm of Swords,” the first half of which made up season 3. It will also likely contain much of the plot from the fourth book in the series, “A Feast For Crows,” as the timelines of the two books overlap to a great extent.
George R. R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” book series will span seven books once it is finished, however at the moment only five have been released. What kind of effect will the series’ sheer scope and breadth have on its TV adaptation? Well, according to executive producer David Benioff contrary to what has been said it’s quite possible that the show will run for longer than the projected seven seasons: “We’re not looking at our series as a book-by-book adaptation so much as an adaptation of George’s entire saga.”
I don’t know about you but I would be completely okay with more than seven season!
Take a look at the preview for the finale of season 3, “Mhysa,” which airs this Sunday at 9 PM EST, below:
