After what seems like an eternity of waiting, the finale of the hugely popular anime series Blood Blockade Battlefront, or Kekkai Sensen, has finally (finally!) received an air date. The series is set to air its 12th and final episode titled “Hello, World!” on October 3rd. Fortunately for fans, the episode itself will be a whopping 46 minutes long which is a welcome present to followers of the engaging anime series. The delay of the finale was announced back in June and was set to initially air in July, however the premiere of Durarara!!x2 Ten had already been slated in its spot. The staff also decided it would be fitting to extend the finale past the initial half-hour time slot, thus giving viewers the final product which is 46 minutes long (thank goodness!).
Funimation streamed Blood Blockade, with English subtitles, while it aired in Japan, and then the company added the hit-series to their English dub-cast in May.
Dark Horse Comics has licensed the anime’s original manga and they describe the story as:
A breach between Earth and the netherworlds has opened up over the city of New York, trapping New Yorkers and creatures from other dimensions in an impenetrable bubble. They've lived together for years, in a world of crazy crime sci-fi sensibilities. Now someone is threatening to sever the bubble, and a group of stylish superhumans is working to keep it from happening.
A preview for the final episode has also been released and I simply cannot wait to see the conclusion of this stellar anime series. If you have not seen Blood Blockade Battlefront (Kekkai Sensen) then I encourage you to do so immediately! A series as good as this one, deserves to be seen by everyone. Blood Blockade Battlefront is available for your viewing pleasure on Hulu and Funimation’s official website.
