The first trailer for Grand Theft Auto Online has been released according to Digital Spy.

The game will be released two weeks after Grand Theft Auto V and will be free to anyone who bought a copy of the game. According to Rockstar Games, ”Grand Theft Auto Online is a dynamic and persistent online word for 16 players that begins by sharing gameplay features, geography and mechanics with Grand Theft Auto V, but will continue to expand and evolve after its launch with new content created by Rockstar Games and the Grand Theft Auto community.

In the trailer, Rockstar also said that they are, “looking to bring the heart of the Grand Theft Auto experience to a living online world with multiple players. Adding,” Just what you chose to do in that world is up to you.

The game will let you team with your friends to tackle missions along with competing with others in the traditional game modes. In the game you take on a character that you can customise the appearance of, as well as increase stats and own property and, of course, cars. You use this character to earn reputation and money to create new opportunities for you and your friends.

The “Crew” tool, most recently seen in Max Payne 3, will also be used in the game. The tool will make use of Rockstar’s Social Club that allows players to use their character in both Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online. Head of Rockstar Dan Houser said,” Multiplayer is an ever-more important part of all our games moving forward. By creating crews through Social Club, the crews that you create in Max Payne 3 will be ready and available for you to play in Grand Theft Auto V from day one.”

GTA 5 is predicted to be the fastest selling game in UK history while Rockstar Games revealed that GTA 4 has seen 25 million lifetime sales.

Grand Theft Auto V will be released on Xbox 360 and PS3 on Sept. 17th, and you can check out the trailer for Grand Theft Auto Online below.
