The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly gives us our first real look at the Gilmore Girls revival and now we can lose our minds all over again. The exclusive photo spread can be found in the issue hitting newsstands April 8th and features a series of possibly spoiler-ish images from the set. So if you want to be completely, 100% surprised when the 4-part mini series airs on Netflix, then consider yourself warned and turn away NOW!
Speculation has been running rampant for months now about the destinies of our favorite citizens of Stars Hollow and so far, there have been very few hints. We've been graced with a few behind the scenes pics from the stars, but what actually happened with Luke (Scott Patterson) and Lorelai (Lauren Graham)? Did they ever find their way back to each other? Anyone that's watched Gilmore Girls knows the Luke/Lorelai relationship had to be the endgame from the beginning. But a little part of me was always hoping for Lorelai and Max to get back together. And now, I know my dreams of seeing THAT reunion are almost certainly dead-in-the-water after seeing this (sigh):
Things don't look like they've changed much over the years in Stars Hollow. The town seems to be up to their usual shenanigans and in this pic -- they're holding auditions for Stars Hollow: The Musical. Um... yes, please. If this has the potential of being half as awesome as Buffy The Vampire Slayer's "Once More With Feeling," -- bring it on! And we all remember Kirk's incredible movie; so please, for the love of all things holy, let Kirk be the writer/producer/director (with choreography by Miss Patty, of course)!
Of course, we'll be catching up with Emily (Kelly Bishop) to see how she's coping with being a widow after Richard passed away. Actor Edward Herrmann passed away in 2014 after a battle with brain cancer.
And whatever happened with Rory (Alexis Bledel)? The last time we saw our favorite girl, she was headed off to travel with the press as a journalist and cover Senator Barack Obama's possible bid for the presidency. I wonder how that went for her? Well, Rory seems unable to escape the hallowed halls of education and in this image, we see her at the head of the class...as a teacher? Zoom in really closely on the chalk board and you'll see she's teaching Charlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre and the clothes worn by her students are very uniform-y. I think it's probably safe to assume Rory has become a high school English Literature teacher and might even be teaching back at her alma mater, Chilton. It's nice to see her following in Max Medina's footsteps. That's right, I'm not letting it go.
And of course, the photo collection wouldn't be complete without a picture of our Girls and their favorite beverage, and co-star, Coffee.
A release date for the Gilmore Girls revival still hasn't been set but we'll be sure to keep you informed as details continue to emerge. What are you most excited to see in the revival? Leave us a comment and we can chat!
