Sherlockians, the time has come. The wait is (almost) over. We thought we would never survive the Sherlock drought, but we are now here to announce the first look at the BBC show’s upcoming season.  As a late Christmas present, brand spanking new stills from Sherlock’s season three were released just yesterday (December 27), reports Digital Spy. The released photos show Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) as John Watson’s (Martin Freeman) best man at his wedding with Mary Morstan (Amanda Abbington). In this case, life really does imitate art, as Abbington is Watsons real life partner. Adorable and perfect? We think so. The new images unveil some other new characters alongside Morstan. The stills show Sherlock newcomer Alice Lowe as a nurse named Tessa. In addition, all us Hannibal fans can rejoice at the first look at Lars Mikkelsen as villain Charles Augustus Magnussen. For those who do not know, Mikkelsen is brother of Mads Mikkelsen, who plays the title role on Hannibal. Basically, the upcoming season of Sherlock should be dubbed, “When Fandoms Collide.” Another photo featuring our favourite investigative duo, Sherlock and Watson, shows them in action working on a new case, as they converse with an army officer in London. The episode will also air on BBC America on Sunday, January 19.
