If you were an actor, and you had the chance to be the next Doctor on Doctor Who, I imagine that this is the kind of chance that you wouldn’t pass up. However, Helen Mirren has made it clear that she would rather be cast as a Bond villain than the next Doctor. The 68 year old star of Red 2 said she would like to see a “gay, black female doctor.”
Mirren told Jon Hornbuckle at Digital Spy “I so do not want to play Doctor Who, I really don’t. I’d like to be a Bond villain. That’s something I’d really love to do, and I’d also like to play Catherine The Great Of Russia.” Mirren also talked about the difference between playing the Queen of England and her character Victoria, the MI5 spy from Red 2.
Mirren said “I’m not saying that I am remotely like an MI5 or CIA agent, but the Queen is a very specific person, living in a very specific world which I know nothing about and I never come near so that was much more work in a way.”
