Other than the film and telelvision industries, Fox has a thing for live musical shows and they’re at it with an on-stage recreation of Grease now. As it turns out, they’ve got some big musicians in hand for the play, with Carly Rae Jepsen and Jessie J already confirmed.
Grease: Live has officially found its Frenchy in Carly Rae Jepsen, who will be playing the girl that dropped out of beauty school. It turns out the songstress will have a pretty busy year, as she’s still promoting her latest studio album E•MO•TION. Meanwhile, “Bang Bang” star and former The Voice UK coach Jessie J won’t be playing any character, but will in fact be opening the show with a live rendition of the well-known “Grease (Is The World)”, written by Barry Gibb. Definitely two interesting additions and valuable assets, one would say!
Both Carly Rae Jepsen and Jessie J will be joining already confirmed cast members Julianne Hough (Sandy), Aaron Tveit (Danny), Vanessa Hudgens (Rizzo), Big Time Rush’s Carlos Pena Vega (Kenickie), Scream Queens‘ Keke Palmer (Marty), Pitch Perfect‘s Kether Donohue (Jan) and David Del Rio (Putzie). The Thomas Kail and Alex Ruzinski-directed Grease: Live is scheduled to air on January 31, 2016.
