Bradleigh-Ann Walker Content Editor The O.C. alum Ben McKenzie has already been welcomed to Gotham City. He’ll be playing a young Commissioner James Gordon. The cast of FX’s upcoming prequel Gotham continues to expand. Robin Lord Taylor will bring Oswald Cobblepot, better known as The Penguin, to life onscreen. He’ll be tackling quite a role, playing a psychopath who has “the brains of a chess grandmaster and the morals of a jackal”. Next up is Burn Notice’s Zabryna Guevara as Gordon’s boss, Captain Essen. She leads the GCPD Homicide Squad with a “Machiavellian skill that’s as much corporate litigator as cop”. Event Horizon’s Sean Pertwee will play the beloved Alfred Pennyworth, loyal employee and friend of the Wayne family. The ex-marine is “fiercely protective of the young Bruce Wayne”, especially with his parents gone. Finally, Being Human’s Erin Richards will step into the role of Barbara Kean, James Gordon’s fiancée. Bruno Heller wrote Gotham’s pilot and will executive produce the TV series. He’ll be joined by Danny Cannon’s directing and producing skills for the pilot. Stay tuned to PopWrapped for the latest casting news!
