It was just last month that the R&B singer’s “Super Rich Kids” (off his Channel Orange album) was listed in a copyright lawsuit.  Ocean now finds himself involved in another lawsuit. This time with the burrito chain Chipotle. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news about the $425,000 contract.  Ocean was given half of the amount ($212,500) in advance after viewing a partially finished animated ad that would feature his cover of “Pure Imagination”— y’know, the song from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. When the time came for the track to be delivered to Chipotle, Ocean’s camp sent in a letter stating his withdrawal from the campaign.  Communication seems to have dropped somewhere between the two regarding the logo placement.  After all— this is a Chipotle ad. The burrito chain is now suing for the $212,500 advance plus other fees.  The ad did run without Ocean— instead, singer Fiona Apple took over the vocal duties. Frank Ocean and his legal camp have not publicly responded to the lawsuit, but a post on Ocean’s tumblr features a link to the Wikipedia page for “defamation.”
