You might not yet know the name Frankie Zulferino, but the former boy-bander is well on his way to making a name for himself that you won’t be able to ignore.
Formerly a member of pop group WOW, Frankie appeared on the CW’s talent competition The Next where he was mentored by Joe Jonas who he said was “talented and humble.” He made it into the top four and says it was a “great experience” that “opened a lot of doors.” Following his appearance on the show he was part of the PopExplosion tour that made its way across the United States and Canada.
Throughout his career to date, Frankie has shared the stage with Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Jason Derulo, Sean Kingston and Westlife. A hight light of his career was opening up for the Biebs with his former pop group, WOW.
Transitioning from boy band stereotypes to serious singer-songwriter, dancer and aspiring actor has been a “difficult change,” Zulferino says. “People expect a complete transition, but I’m the same person. I’ve just evolved and grown.”
His single “Dreamless” was released in April of last year and he says it was written at a time when he had lost all hope and hit rock bottom. “I was always stereotyped as a kid who has it all. In reality, I’ve worked really hard for all of it. I fund all my projects myself; people don’t realize all the work.”
“You really have to love it [showbiz] in order to do it. There’s nothing normal about it.”
Frankie reveals he has a new single coming out sometime early this year as he looks toward a future album and hopefully some acting as well.
“If you believe in something keep working for it. Don’t let anyone take it from you; believe in your dreams.”
