Will Smith’s Fresh Prince of Bel Air is the latest classic 90s sitcom to get rebooted. Smith himself will serve as executive producer, along with James Lessiter, Caleeb Pinkett and Jada Pinkett-Smith.

There is very little information about the series, though it has been confirmed to be a “new spin on the fish-out-of water tale while maintaining the spirit of the original series”. No cast or characters have been announced, leaving the plot and whether or not we’ll see familiar faces from the original series, a mystery.

The original series ran for 6 seasons on NBC and followed Smith’s character as he adjusted to life in Bel Air after growing up in much different circumstances. The show helped popularize Smith as both an actor and a rapper, and featured guest appearances from Jada Pinkett-Smith and Tyra Banks.

NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblett said that the network was uninvolved in the reboot, and there has been no announcement from Smith’s production company in that regard.
