From The Kitchens Of Downton To A Single Parent American Family: Lesley Nichol Set For Raising Hope Appearance

Claudia Walrad

Staff Writer

When actors crossover to appear in a series that differs greatly in genre from their usual fare always seems to pique interest in viewers - especially when the face of a certain sharp-tongued British cook from the Edwardian era, is rumored to guest-star as a maid on a wacky American sitcom. Yes, it appears as though Lesley Nicol of Downton Abbey will be surfacing on Fox's Raising Hope. Entertainment Weekly reports that Nicol has signed on to play the former maid of Eleanor (Tippi Hedren) in an episode set to air in the spring. The popular American comedy, featuring industry vets Cloris Leachman and Martha Plimpton, focuses on a young single father, caring for his toddler daughter with the help of his humorous yet loving family. Receiving multiple Emmy nominations, the show has enjoyed a positive response from critics and audiences alike. No doubt, Nicol's comedic flair and timing will be well put to use in her appearance. This is not the first guest role that Nicol has made on American television. US audiences may also recognize her as Johanna from Once Upon a Time. However, it is likely that her portrayal of Mrs. Patmore in Downton Abbey has garnered her the most fans since 2010. Ms. Nicol's acting resume is as diverse as it is impressive. The 60 year-old actress can also boast of musical talent, singing and dancing as Rosie in London's West End production of Mamma Mia!, the stage show based on the music of ABBA. Mark your calendars folks!  With acting chops like that, US fans of Raising Hope should be in for a real treat! http://www.Twitter.com/PopWrapped https://pop-wrapped.tumblr.com http://www.SoundCloud.com/PopWrapped http://www.Facebook.com/PopWrapped http://www.Instagram.com/PopWrapped http://www.Pinterest.com/PopWrapped http://www.YouTube.com/PopWrapped https://pop-wrapped.wordpress.com http://www.PopWrapped.com
