Gal Gadot Cast As Wonder Woman For Man Of Steel Sequel
Mata Lauano

Staff Writer

Say hello to our new Wonder Woman (aka Diana Prince) for Man of Steel sequel, Israeli actress Gal Gadot. As confirmed by the studio, Warner Bros. Pictures, Gadot will join Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck in Zack Snyder’s currently untitled, but popularly dubbed, Batman vs. Superman follow up to the 2012 reboot of the Superman franchise. Best known for her role as Gisele Harrabo in the Fast and Furious franchise –  and as a model and former Miss Israel for Miss Universe – Gadot will be reviving the patriotically-clothed heroine created in the 1940s and brought to life by Lynda Carter in the 1970s’ "Wonder Woman" television series. As the sequel will mark Wonder Woman’s debut to the big screen, while also serving as a stepping stone towards a ‘Justice League’ movie, Gadot certainly has a lot to live up to, but Snyder has every confidence in the star and so should we! "Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe," director Zack Snyder said in a statement. "Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role." Filming on the "Man of Steel" sequel is scheduled to start early next year with a release of July 17, 2015. One thing I do hope to see is Wonder Woman’s role be more than that of a supporting role to the two already cast superheroes. As one of the most iconic comic book characters to be created since 1941, by William Moulton Marston, it’s surprising we haven’t already had a solo film. To put it in the Snyder’s own words, Wonder Woman is one of the most powerful female characters of all time, so now that Wonder Woman will be making her big screen debut here’s to hoping that in 2015 we’ll witness Wonder Woman kick ass on the big screen with all the agency of the strong independent DC character that she is.
