We all know that the long wait between seasons of Game Of Thrones is "dark and full of terrors," and there are few things that could fill that gaping hole in our viewing time.
At the very least though, the wait for last season was mitigated by the suspense of watching Kit Harington's hair and wondering whether the presence of those unshorn locks means that Jon Snow is alive. We now know that he is!
But for now, we have little to go about while awaiting the new season of Game of Thrones. Although this is true, fans are using the few clues we have to speculate on the new season of Game Of Thrones!
The casting call is searching for a young lord in his late 20’s. He’s a tall, handsome young lord, and the show is looking for a white actor who uses the RP accent. He’s scheduled to shoot in the week commencing September 20th.
Fans have pointed out that the description seems to fit that of Prince Rhaegar Targaryen, Daenery's older brother!
For those of you who don't remember, Prince Rhaegar was the one who kidnapped Lyanna Stark and was said to have married her. This prompted her older brother, Brandon Stark and her father, Rickard Stark to journey to King's Landing and demand to the mad King Aerys that Lyanna should be returned to her family at once.
Aerys though, being crazy, instead ordered that the father and son be burned! He also gave out the command that the new heir to Winterfell, Eddard Stark and his best friend and Lyanna's betrothed, Robert Baratheon be surrendered to the crown at once.
The two young men who were living in the Eyrie at that time under the guardianship of Jon Arryn instead made their way back to their homes to gather their armies. And this was the start of Robert's rebellion, which ended with Lyanna giving birth to Jon Snow, who we presume is Rhaegar's son.
We have seen a glimpse of this in Bran's vision, so it isn't too far off the mark that we may end up seeing the Targaryen Crown Prince, but then again that description also fits a young Robert Baratheon who was also described as tall and handsome in his youth.
What do you think? Will we be seeing Rhaegar Targaryen on screen or maybe it is just Robert in the past, or perhaps it is a new character all together?
