Just last week, it was reported here on PopWrapped that Wisconsin had reason to celebrate with a massive LGBT victory in the form of legalizing gay marriage. Now, though, the same judge who validated gay marriage in the Cheese State is temporarily staying her ruling. This is leaving homosexual couples who were married last week during the legalization in legal limbo, just like in Utah and Michigan where same-sex victories were also stayed. The reasoning behind this remains within legalities that must be proofed by the federal district court in conjunction with the Supreme Court. So, while things may seem a bit bleak right now following this stay, at least it seems like it won’t last forever! It’s all just a bunch of legal mumbo-jumbo that, hopefully, will be cleared up sooner rather than later. Way sooner. On her decision, District Judge Barbara Crabbe wrote:
After seeing the expressions of joy on the faces of so many newly wedded couples featured in media reports, I find it difficult to impose a stay on the event that is responsible for eliciting that emotion, even if the stay is only temporary. Same-sex couples have waited many years to receive equal treatment under the law, so it is understandable that they do not want to wait any longer.
