Breakfast nutrition is taking a huge new step in bettering classic cereals. General Mills, the company best know for famous cereals such as, Lucky Charms, Cheerios, and Trixis changing the decades-old recipe.

Recently announced, they will be the first to make over their brands and remove all artificial coloring from the company's entire line. While 60% of their cereals are already free of artificial flavoring and coloring, they hope to eventually replace everything with natural ingredients by 2017.

The company taste-tested hundreds of alternatives to obtaining the fun colors we enjoy without impacting the taste. Some examples of those alternatives are tomatoes, purple carrots, and even spices like turmeric. The company promises that while they use items like radishes to color the cereal, our beloved favorites such as "fruity Trix" will still maintain that fun flavor we love; it will now just be better for you!

Releasing pictures of the new color difference, you might say the new and improved cereal looks a little less vibrant in color... but it sure does looks a whole lot more natural!

Only time will tell if other breakfast foods will follow in their footsteps as we continue to make healthier choices in what we eat.
