The first trailer for the James Brown biopic, Get on Up has been released to the masses!
The film has an August 1 release date and the trailer should get you through until then.
For those who don’t know, James Brown was an integral part of the soul movement in music and is considered by many to be the Godfather of Soul. The story shows Brown’s tough childhood and journey into adulthood.
It shows the past where James Brown’s mother tells him that, “One day, everyone will know your name;” to his stint in a juvenile detention center. The star-filled cast includes Chadwick Boseman as James Brown and Viola Davis as Brown’s mother.
Boseman portrayed Jackie Robinson in 42. From what was shown in the trailer, this looks like it could be one of the can’t miss movies of 2014. The film has Tate Taylor (The Help) directing and Mick Jagger producing; and if the trailer is any indication, Get on Up could have people dancing in the theaters to all the great music.
