Boston native Gillian Heidi has had an interest – a genuine passion – for music since childhood. Having picked up piano at the age of four, and after teaching herself guitar at the age of twelve, she’s been making her mark on the music scene since the release of her EP Unfiltered last year. She’s already earned herself coverage from The New Nine, Stage Right Secrets and Variance Magazine, and racked up several hundred thousand streams across several platforms.
While 2020 has been a far from typical year, that hasn’t stopped her from sharing her talents – her ability to write honest, relatable lyrics about moments and experiences in life so many of us are familiar with – and her impressive voice with the world via her songs “High”, “Static” and “Desperate.” With a debut full length album titled 3AM coming soon, in the meantime, sixteen-year-old Gillian, who is heavily inspired by the likes of Taylor Swift and Ella Mai, among others, is continuing to impress, and grow her fanbase, with the release of new single “Fray”, which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere.
“Fray”, like many of the songs Gillian writes, is both lyrically emotive and powerful. In her own words, she says it’s: “..about a relationship that is slowly falling apart, or fraying at the edges. While writing fray,’ I really tried to convey the feeling of when something is just beginning to fall apart but it hasn’t gone down in flames yet. The song is emotional and raw but not angry. It is one of my favorite songs from the album because of the authenticity of it and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it!”
