After so many months of rumors swirling among the press and fans, Netflix has finally made it official; they are bringing back Gilmore Girls for brand new episodes! In a press release today, Netflix also confirmed returning cast members Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson and Kelly Bishop. Also confirmed as returning to the series will be Sean Gunn, Stars Hollow's favorite Jack-Of-All-Trades-Master-Of-None, Kirk Gleason. And Keiko Agena will be back to reprise her role as Rory's BFF, Lane Kim.

Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino will be back at the helm as executive producer with hubby and producing partner, Daniel Palladino. For many fans and the cast, Sherman-Palladino's return was imperative to any possibilities of a revival. Sherman-Palladino left Gilmore Girls in season 7 due to a contract dispute with Warner Brothers. Her production company, Dorothy Parker Drank Here Productions will produce the revival in association with Warner Brothers Television.

Not much more is known about the revival. Netflix has yet to announce how many episodes have been ordered, what format they will take or a release date. A favored bit of speculation has been that the revival will take the form of 90-minute movies, each set during a different season of the year.

As fan excitement ramps up with this much anticipated announcement, the cast have also chimed in. Friday afternoon, Lauren Graham Tweeted a picture of herself holding what appears to be a garment bag containing a stolen jacket from the costume department of Gilmore Girls.

Now that we have an official announcement, we can speculate in earnest about the fates of the citizens of our beloved Stars Hollow. How did that whole thing with following around that Obama guy turn out for Rory? Are Luke and Lorelei together? What job is Kirk doing now and is he still with Lulu? Have Babette and Miss Patty finally achieved world-domination with their sass and awesomeness?

We'll be sure to keep you all up to date as Netflix reveals more. Until then, make some coffee, order a pizza and throw on The Donna Reed Show - we're going back to Stars Hollow!
