Previous sources and articles have confirmed the set list for Glee’s 100th episode! So if you are saving yourself for the official airing, stop reading right now!
Several songs that were previously aired on Glee will be brought back in this revival. “Defying Gravity” was originally cast as the deciding number for who would play Elphaba in McKinely High’s production of Wicked.”
The episode (Season 1, Episode 9 “Wheels”) has been described as “the turning point for the show” as Kurt and Artie each struggle with what makes them unique in their little Ohio town. For Kurt, wanting the role of Elphaba over Rachel forces him to practice the higher notes of the piece. But even when he knows he can hit that high note, he sabotages his own audition, giving Rachel the lead.
Another blast from the past is Avril Lavigne’s “Keep Holding On.” Originally sung by the Glee cast as an uplifting song of solidarity, this new release will be sung solely by Noah Puckerman. The original episode (Seaon 1, Episode 7 “Throwdown”) focuses on Quinn’s pregnancy, and her fear of losing her spot as head cheerleader if Coach Sue were to discover it. When Sue has a school reporter release the story about Quinn’s pregnancy, the Glee club sings “Keep Holding On” to show Quinn that she is not alone in her struggle.
Santana Lopez will be reprising the song “Valerie” with ex girlfriend, Britney Pierce. Originally covered in Season 2, Episode 9 “Special Education,” Santana took the lead for this Sectionals song after much New Directions drama backstage.
Although she originally sang it, Rachel Berry will not be returning for “Total Eclipse of the Heart.” This will be sung by April Rhodes (guest star Kristin Chenoweth) alongside her friend, Will Scheuster. The song first appeared in Season 1, Episode 17 “Bad Reputation” after Rachel used the conflicted feelings of Puck, Finn, and Jesse to make a music video with her.
Other songs that will be featured include “Raise Your Glass,” which was originally sung by The Warblers; “Toxic,” covered by New Directions in Season 2; and “Happy,” among others.
