Gleeks, get excited! Another Glee
star has been signed to release album!
The Hollywood Reporter
reports that Alex Newell, who was the runner-up on the first season of the Glee Project
on Oxygen, has been signed to Atlantic Records to release his first LP.
Glee’s executive music producer Adam Anders said, "While working with Alex on Glee
, I immediately realised how broad and unique his talent was and knew that he would be a great addition to the Deep Well/Atlantic Records family."
If you caught up with the Glee Project (before it was sadly not renewed for a 3rd
season) you’ll know that Alex was initially only intended to appear in two episodes as Wade “Unique” Adams, but as of season five he was promoted to a series regular.
Atlantic’s CEO said, "Alex is such an undeniable talent with one of the most unique,” no pun intended,
“and distinct voices I've heard in a long time."
Alex said he is “thrilled to join this new family and take another step in my career. Singing is my passion and to now have the opportunity to make my own music is a dream come true! I can't thank my new Atlantic and Deep Well family enough for welcoming me with open arms."
