Former Glee star Darren Criss has reportedly been cast in American Horror Story: Hotel. The upcoming series is set to premiere in October on FX and already boasts an impressive cast. Criss has recently finished a critically acclaimed run on Broadway in Hedwig and the Angry Itch and will join Lady Gaga, Angela Basset and Kathy Bates in the show's fifth season.
Criss is in talks to play one of the shows scariest, most horrifying creatures to date - a hipster. His character is rumoured to be Justin, a native of Silver Lake who comes to the hotel on Hallowe'en with his girlfriend to escape pesky trick-or-treaters. They encounter Bates, the hotel's owner, who becomes increasingly annoyed with the couple's demands.
Not much is known about the show's upcoming season, except that producers have stated it would require a "huge reinvention". This season features many actors also known for their vocal abilities. While producer Ryan Murphy confirmed Lady Gaga's part is "a pure acting part" there's no word just yet on whether or not the same is true for Criss.
Murphy also promised a much darker show this year, if that's possible, saying that the show is more "horror-based", and that the series is "much more dark. It's about a theme and an idea that's very close to my heart that I've always wanted to do that's a little bloodier and grislier I think than anything that we've done before; it's straight horror this year".
Are you as excited as we are for this amazing casting possibility? Now all they have to do is work in a rendition of "Teenage Dream" and our lives will be complete.
