The saga of who is returning for Season 5 of Glee continues with news that Naya Rivera is definitely returning to the show.
Speaking at the BET Awards on Sunday, Rivera confirmed that she is returning despite Heather Morris’ demotion to guest star. This is sad news for the many Brittana fans out there, however as Rivera told E!Online “I’ve been saying for a while that I thought when we come back for season five, I would love to explore Santana as this independent adult living in this new city and what that means for her love life and all that good stuff.”
Rivera joins the list of confirmed returning cast members which includes Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale and Jane Lynch amongst others.
However Dot Marie Jones is not so certain on her future on the show. The actress, who plays Coach Beiste on the show, is still waiting for the call for Season 5. She has been quoted as saying “I’m still waiting to see if I’m coming back to Glee … I pray to God I am! It’s the best job I’ve had in my life.” With the news that Jayma Mays will not be returning as a season regular, the teacher’s lounge at McKinley could be a sad lonely place for Mr Schue next year if Jones does not return.
Season 5 of Glee begins production later this month and premieres on September 19 on FOX.
