GMO Proponent Claims Weed Killer Is Safe To Drink, But Won’t Drink It Himself

GMO proponent Patrick Moore found himself in an awkward situation when he claimed that weed killer Roundup is safe to drink…yet wouldn’t drink it himself.

Loudmouth blowhards of the world, take note. If you’re ever going to make wild, ludicrous claims, make sure you have the guts to back them up. More often than not, there’s going to be someone out there to make you put up or shut up.

GMO advocate Patrick Moore was recently called out in spectacular fashion in an interview for French TV.  Moore made the appearance as part of a campaign to legalize Golden Rice, a controversial genetically modified grain enriched with high levels of vitamin A. In the interview, Moore refuted reports that glyphosate, the main ingredient in the weed killer Roundup, may be responsible for the rise in cancer rates in Argentina. He proclaimed, “You can drink a whole quart of it and it won’t hurt you.”

When the interviewer asked him to put his Monsanto where his mouth is and drink a glass, Moore replied, “I’d be happy to,” but quickly followed up with, “Not really. I’m not stupid.”

Clearly flustered and caught off guard, Moore demanded “interview me about Golden Rice, that’s what I’m talking about.” When the interviewer stuck to his guns and continued to probe him about the dangers of glyphosate, Moore stormed off, calling the journalist, “a complete jerk.”

Maybe Moore should reconsider that glass of Roundup. With all the crow he has to eat now, he’ll need something strong to wash it down.
