Government's Plan To Defund Planned Parenthood Could Mean Shutdown | Planned Parenthood

If you haven't heard, the government could soon shutdown due to the lack of a decision upon the funding of Planned Parenthood. Ted Cruz, who you may remember shut down the government last time over Obamacare, is aiming to do the same thing, only this time, he wants to completely defund Planned Parenthood. The recent allegations against Planned Parenthood about them "selling babies" (does anyone even believe that anyway?) have only heightened Cruz's reasoning behind the defunding. Currently, Planned Parenthood receives $528 million in federal funding, however this is only applied to legal abortions on certain occasions. Fewer than 3% of all Planned Parenthood patients are there for a legal abortion. Their services include cancer and STD screenings, birth control, and STD treatments. Nearly one in five women visit Planned Parenthood once in their life. Ted Cruz intends to eliminate the funding for the millions of women and men who visit Planned Parenthood for healthcare, not for abortion. Interestingly enough, there are Republican Senators who do wish to defund Planned Parenthood but are reluctant, however, to shut down the government over the matter. One Democratic Senator, Elizabeth Warren, disagrees with the plans to defund the Women's Healthcare services because they are just that: healthcare service. She gave a speech Monday on the matter, and she makes a lot of good reasoning behind the funding for Planned Parenthood.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeilHs9kZ2g&h=500
