Once upon a time, there was a little known graphic novel about zombies walking the earth. Said graphic novel was then adapted into a television series, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Once The Walking Dead hit our television screens, the world was all in a tizzy. It became an immediate hit and kept audiences riveted with intense story lines and a danger so fierce and extreme that we simply could not look away.

We are now four seasons into this masterpiece of a show, and showrunner Greg Niotero promises that the final stretch of episodes are going old school, with obvious parallels to the first season.

In an interview with Channel Guide Magazine, Nicotero stated that, “I feel like episode nine [of season four] and onward really harkens back to the first season of The Walking Dead. If you think about season two, they were on Hershel’s farm and in season three and half of season four, they had the prison and Woodbury.”

Nicotero followed that thought up with “”So this is the first time that they’re out in the world again. It’s the first time that we really get that sense of how big the world is and how unprotected people are in the wilderness.”

The Walking Dead will blessedly return to our screens on Sunday, February 9, and Nicotero is the mastermind director behind the mid-season premier; which was written by Robert Kirkman, who also created the original comic.

“It’s probably the closest adaptation to two issues of the comic book that we’ve ever done,” he teased. “I’m dying for people to see the next eight episodes because there’s so much good stuff.”
You and me both, Greggy. Life simply doesn’t feel right if my heart isn’t racing and I’m not cursing at my television screen. Speaking of which: Really, Kirkman? Death by decapitation for Hershel?! Unacceptable!
