Gunshots were fired on the campus of Kent State University in Ohio Wednesday night. Shortly after midnight, authorities reported that a suspect in the case had been arrested off campus and there was no longer a threat. Authorities received reports of shots fired near Bowman Hall on the school’s main campus around 8:50 pm. Kent State's Twitter account stated: Main Campus: Report of a shot fired near Bowman Hall. Officers in area. Stay away from area. If in area, seek shelter until further notice. The university quickly went into lockdown. Students and faculty in Bowman Hall followed practice drill protocol, barricading themselves in their classrooms and blocking the doors with tables. About 30 minutes after the initial reports, university officials announced that the shots had been fired into the ground and no one had been injured. The all-campus lockdown was lifted except for the Business Administration Building . Police will hold a press conference Thursday morning at 11 am with more information on the incident and the alleged shooter. Stay with PopWrapped for more on this story as it develops.
