Gwen Stefani is back everybody! It's been eight whole years since the No Doubt front woman released solo material, but that was just about to change. With her comeback single "Baby Don't Lie", scheduled to come out tonight, the track found its way online a bit earlier for our listening pleasure. "Baby Don't Lie" was produced by Benny Blanco and Ryan Tedder, while the two joined forces with the songstress herself and Noel Zancanella to write the lyrics. Kicking off with an xx-like intro, the track quickly builds into a massive pop record which keeps the songstress' well-known style. In fact, the song comes really close to what you would think Gwen Stefani would sound in 2014. Catchy and anthemic as anything, we can see why this track was picked to be the fist single of her comeback. Moreover, it's got some eastern-coming elements that remind a bit of Coldplay and Rihanna's "Princess Of China", which can only be a good thing. If any complaints can be made, one could only object to "Baby Don't Lie" being a pretty safe track for Gwen Stefani. However, it's been a really long time she last dropped any solo effort, so she needs to be reintroduced to the market; this will definitely do the job, thanks to its radio-friendly melodies. After all, not only is it an amazing lead single, but chances are she's saving the more game-changing tunes for later this era. The accompanying music video was shot in Los Angeles back in late September, with Sophie Muller on direction duties. Take a listen to the track below.
