Silence! A message from the King -- and it’s one that Hamilton fans will be thrilled about! Early this morning, composer and lyricist of the Tony award-winning musical Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda, tweeted his followers about a big announcement to come later in the day. Just a few hours later, the great LMM dropped a bomb ... or, in this case, a Hamilton mixtape.
Hello hello hello!
Been working on a mixtape for years.

That’s right, folks! The long anticipated and highly sought after Hamilton mixtape will begin pre-orders tomorrow! Miranda has been teasing the mixtape for over a year now, tweeting periodically about prospective artists, covers, and collaborations. And, judging by the track list, this album will drop with the same success as the multi-platinum cast album, which debuted at number one on the rap charts and continues to gain traction.
Among some of Miranda’s self-proclaimed wishlist gets -- including Busta Rhymes (the vocal inspiration for character Hercules Mulligan), Common, and Chance the Rapper -- are seasoned veterans with just the right chops to carry this already phenomenal franchise. Alicia Keys, Usher, Queen Latifah, and Ben Folds are just a few of the phenomenal collection of voices to be featured on the record. And, of course, Miranda himself will feature on a number of tracks, some of which will include songs cut from the final production.
Heavily involved in the album from the start have been Roots members Questlove and Black Thought, whose connections to the production run deep after executive producing the Grammy award-winning cast album. Stated Questlove in an interview with Billboard in early August, “Hamilton started out as an idea for a mixtape and nothing else. Then they were like, 'Let's do this play first and see what happens.' So this is the "see what happens" part."
Needless to say, fans, who have spent the last year impatiently being "willing to wait for it", are more than ready to “see what happens”.
Pre-orders for the album begin tomorrow! Until then, take a look at the complete track list and get excited!
