Harry Potter Characters May Appear In Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them

This is not a drill! Some characters from the Harry Potter saga will probably appear in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movies.

Some characters from the Harry Potter saga will probably appear in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movies. Yes, you read that right.

You may remember that in the just-released trailer there was mention of Albus Dumbledore, who was a Transfiguration Professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry at that time. According to the name-dropping scene shown in the trailer, Dumbledore is quite fond of Newt Scamander, the magizoologist who, after being expelled from Hogwarts, travels to New York with a magical suitcase containing different magical creatures – played in the movie by Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne.

So, the question in everyone’s mind was whether we would get to see Dumbledore – and other characters from the Harry Potter world – in the Fantastic Beasts movies. Well, wonder no more because MTV has come through.

At CinemaCon, MTV interviewed Dan Fogler, the actor who plays Jacob Kowalski – a no-maj who befriends Scamander, opens his suitcase (boundaries Kowalski!) and lets the fantastic creatures loose. MTV News’ Josh Horowitz told Fogler that of course we wouldn’t be seeing Harry and Hermione in Fantastic Beasts, since their story takes place many decades after the story told in the movie, to which Fogler answered “No, but you do meet… As the stories go along… you… I can’t give it away! But you will see… you will hear mention of your favourite characters. And you may even meet their younger counterparts along the way.”

Wait, what?

After Horowitz pressed on and asked specifically if we would see a young Albus Dumbledore, Fogler said, “I take the fifth.”

So even if he doesn’t explicitly say it, he pretty much gives it away, right? We’re not being too optimistic, right? Right?

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
