With the grand opening of Los Angeles' own Wizarding World of Harry Potter taking place today (April 7), we thought we would celebrate by compiling some statistics about our own adventures in the wizarding world.

From to, Muggles, Wizards, and Squibs alike have been writing their own versions of the Golden Trio's time at Hogwarts – and even some new adventures!

According to WattPad statistics, there are a TON of stories, each centered around a specific relation(ship). These numbers may surprise you. Or maybe not...

Top Harry Potter ships determined by uploads:

o    Draco Malfoy x Hermione (Dramione) = 63,603

o    Draco Malfoy x Harry  (Drarry) = 19,813

o    Harry x Ginny (Hinny) = 13,453

o    Ron x Hermione (Romione) = 12,580

o    James Potter x Lily (Jily) =11,640

o    Sirius x Lupin (WolfStar) = 3,383

o    Snape x Lily (Snily) = 1,551

Most of these ships come as no surprise, but some of the ship names could use some work! My personal favorite is WolfStar, and I'm always up for a well-written Romione story!

Some WattPad authors have even created award-winning stories like Harry Potter and the Guardian. While this title is still a work in progress, it already won the site's 2015 Watty Award!

The site's synopsis reads:

The legend of Harry Potter has gone down in history, found in texts all around the world, and his story will be told to every generation to come. But, there is one story that has never been heard, for the guardian's story has never been told, until now...

If that particular story isn't quite what you're looking for, check out WattPad's list of Harry Potter stories, including titles like The Dawn of Darkness (A Tom Riddle Story), Nic Gibbs: Detective Squib, Hermione and Draco: A Forbidden Fantasy, and Lancaster.

WattPad is a free app based out of Toronto, Canada that hosts more than 40 million users a month. The service is 90% mobile, with over 150 million uploads in as many as 50 languages. Some basic user statistics include:

  • More than 24 hours of reading material is posted to Wattpad every minute

  • People spend 13 billion minutes a month on Wattpad

  • Average engagement time is 30 minutes per user, per session

What are some of your favorite stories? Do you use WattPad, FFNet, or some other fan fiction site?

Send us an owl and hail the Knight Bus; we're going back to Hogwarts!
