Just in time for the Fantastic Beasts hype, Warner Bros is teaming up with IMAX to bring all eight Harry Potter films back to our big screens.
Yup, you read that right! Time to get back to Hogwarts!
The screenings will start Thursday, October 13th. This will be the first time the Sorcerer’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets movies will be shown in IMAX. Fans can also expect to see a special Fantastic Beasts reel during the event and even surprise guests at the London and Los Angeles events — including a Q&A!
“‘Harry Potter’ is one of the most beloved film franchises of all time and is incredibly important to the history of IMAX. Therefore, being able to offer each installment — especially the initial two for the very first time in IMAX — makes this a truly magical event for fans,” said Greg Foster, CEO of IMAX Entertainment and senior executive vice president of IMAX Corp.
There will be several kinds of ticket packages available for purchase at your local Ministry (known as movie theaters in the Muggle world): single ticket, day access (three or more movies in a day), four-show access (four shows any time, any day), and full festival access (all day, every day).
Young witches and wizards must be accompanied by adults at all times, and wands must be approved for use by venue. Robes are not required, and any apparating within the presence of Muggles is strictly prohibited. Anyone found in violation will face an inquiry from the Ministry of Magic.
Families, friends, and Hogwarts alumni should arrive early in order to find appropriate seating. Please check the morning Daily Prophet (or Muggle equivalent) for scheduled departures/viewings.
The Harry Potter franchise has grossed about $216 million at IMAX theaters and $7.7 billion worldwide. $1.3 billion of that amount was brought in by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.
